This new and first series of works on paper by Louisa Loakes is hand printed by the artist in London, UK. Each work is part of a varied ediition in which the artist minipulates every print with the method of embossing.
Louisa was formally trained as a painter at Wimbledon school of Art, through her painting she pursues harmony of line, form and composition; all elements that influenced her current range of fabric designs. Taking inspiration from the traditional craft of block printing, one of the oldest methods of printing. Louisa uses simple geometric form and shape, embracing the nuances and subtle variation the process of block printing offers. Her patterns are finished with flecks of colour painted by hand.
